How Do You Attract More Links to Your Web Site?

You stare down your organic search results and it’s clear you’re suffering from fewer links to your site than your competitors. What’s the only thing not to do?

  • Buy more paid search ads from Google. They each give you a link to your site that Google is sure to find.
  • Talk to your partners, your customers, your suppliers—anyone that might link to your site—and ask for a link.
  • Revamp your approach to your Web content. If you have newsworthy, compelling, useful content, people will naturally link to you.
  • Create a useful tool that truly helps your customers and others will link to it.

Attracting links to your site is critical to organic search success, but buying paid search ads don’t help. All the rest of these ideas can work well. Almost any business has other companies with reasons to link to them, and providing useful content and tools will attract links from folks you don’t even know.
